(Dramaturg)

Sam Levine is a senior at Lang College at the New School, studying theater with a focus in a dramaturgy and a minor in gender studies. Production work includes Dramaturgy for The Laramie Project at Lang, and co-directing Council for the Lang Theater Collective. As an artist, I focus on work about gender and sexuality, with a strong focus on increasing representation in the arts. As a dramaturg, I work alongside my collaborators to do historical and critical research for the piece and have also served as a sensitivity consultant around issues of gender and sexuality. As a young queer theater artist, I strive to ensure that all projects I work on provide nuanced representation.

(Writer)

Savannah Allred-Parrott is a Senior at The New School’s Eugene Lang pursuing a Bachelor of Arts. She is in The Arts In Context Program majoring in Theater and Literature with a writing concentration graduating in December 2021. Her education background includes: Narrative and Confessional writing, Queer, Feminist, and Liberation Theology, Disability studies, Spiritual Autobiography, Violence against Women studies, Performing Suffering and Staging Catastrophe, Tragic Literature, Playwriting, and Musical Theater. Savannah began writing The Fire Inside when she was 17 years-old. By the time she graduates from The New School, she will have completed the first draft of The Fire Inside. Her work centers on creating spaces that are inclusive and prioritizes representation. The heart of her writing is in the mental health and disability communities.

The Fire Inside is a dark retelling of the untold stories of Maleficent, Diablo, and the Woods people, and that of Aurora and the sleeping curse. This tale calls for us to be present with our feelings that may arise. The Fire Inside is written to catalyze discussions concerning violence against women, LGBTQ+ lives, coallition building and inclusion, taking risks, and imagining what our world could look like until it is here amongst us.

I began writing “The Fire Inside” as a musical when I was 17 years-old. In my final two semesters at The New School, I will have completed a first draft of the complete musical.
